AIS Reading at St. John's
Academic Intervention Services
Individual and group AIS reading support is offered to students in grades K-8. AIS reading looks different for each child depending on their needs. It can be a push-in or pull-out support program, or a combination of both.
When a student is referred to AIS a variety of diagnostic tools are used to identify the student's individual strengths and weaknesses. After the student's weaknesses have been identified the child's teachers work together to develop a support plan.
The goal of the AIS reading program is to help struggling readers gain the literacy skills needed to be successful in the classroom. This is done through the use of various programs, teacher created lessons, and manipulatives. Instruction is individualized to meet each students needs and lessons are fun and engaging.
